"ANY QUESTIONS FOR LISA?"

How do I book a shoot?

Simply send me an email at lisa@lisaatkinson.com.au or fill out the contact form here. Include as much detail as possible about your project, your timeline, and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll reply with my availability and answer any questions to ensure we’re a good fit.

How far in advance should I book?

I generally book up about two weeks in advance (often sooner during busy periods, especially towards the end of the year), but I try to leave flexibility in my diary for short-notice jobs. If you need something photographed urgently, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

What's a shoot day like?

I like to go into a shoot day organised and prepeared, so that the experience is relaxed and comfortable for everyone involved, creating gorgeous images in the process. I generally work as a one-woman show with no big setups or entourage – allowing for flexibility and efficiency. We’ll work collaboratively on the day, taking breaks to review what’s been captured and ensure we’re achieving your vision, and we’ll have fun while we’re doing it!

My shoot is weather dependant - what happens if the sky not looking great on our scheduled day?

Being Melbourne, weather flexibility is essential! If your shoot is weather-dependent, we’ll monitor the forecast once we’re within the seven-day window. If necessary, I am more than happy to reschedule to ensure we get the best possible conditions.

What if I need to cancel my scheduled shoot at short notice?

I understand that life happens, and I aim to be as flexible as possible with my clients. If you need to reschedule with reasonable notice, I’m happy to move things around free of charge. However, cancellations or rescheduling requests made within 48 hours of a scheduled shoot (unless weather-related or due to genuine emergencies) may incur a $250 inconvenience fee. This helps protect my diary from last-minute changes due to organisational issues. If you’re facing unexpected circumstances, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we can discuss the situation.

How long after my shoot do I have to wait to recieve my digital images?

I know you’re dying to receive your images as soon as possible after your shoot, and personally I hate knowing I have a big backload of editing to get through so I make sure to get them from my camera to your inbox as soon as I can.   This means that your high-resolution images are usually delivered to you within a week of the shoot via Dropbox or WeTransfer – but often sooner! Urgent 24 hour turnaround can be arranged at an additional rate if you’re on a deadline.

What is the difference between editorial style interiors photographers, and real estate photographers - and which one are you?

Real estate photography is designed to sell a house, while editorial style interiors photography sells the story of a home.  I am very much an editorial style interiors photographer.

Real Estate photographers switch on every light in the home, often shoot exterior shots at dusk in order to hide of multitude of (ugly house) sins, use very wide lenses to make spaces appear larger (ie: distorted).  The images are very heavily photoshopped to look super bright, have the exterior window views dropped in and use often fake bright blue or sunset-hued skies.

In contrast, editorial style, by the essence of its name, tells a story – of the space, of the thought put into the colours, design and features, and of the people who call it home.  From a technical perspective, editorial interiors photography purely utilises natural light both inside and out, creating beautiful soft shadows and textured nuances. The lens angles are not as wide, so they more closely resemble how your eye actually sees a space. The use of symmetry, vignettes and details of the design are also powerful visual storytelling features.  Editing is minimal, and window views are often very soft or blown out, and softer, neutral skies.

I hate being in front of the camera! Can you make me feel more comfortable (and photoshop the bits I'm insecure about)?

Honest answer – I hate it too!  I’ve been photographing gorgeous women (and some men) of all shapes, sizes and ages for nearly 30 years.  Very few have been actual models, and very few have been completely comfortable with the lens focussed on them.  So yes, I will absolutely help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Your shoot will be relaxed, natural and maybe even fun (God forbid!).  The more I can get you out of your own head, forgetting about the camera, and being your real self, the better the end result will be.  Getting your hair & makeup done by a professional (who can keep things very natural) or getting wardrobe advice from a personal stylist can do wonders for your self confidence on shoot day.  And confidence (even the fake it till you make it variety) will outshine any of those pesky little bits you get insecure about in your final images.  So yes, I can do some additional minor photoshopping on request, but here’s what I really want you to know… you are beautiful just as you are.  (Promise!)

Do you shoot in a studio?

Generally no.  For most of my clients, their choice of location is my studio – whether it be a beautiful home they have designed, their place of work, or a special destination that has synergy with their product or brand.  By keeping my locations flexible, I am able to create work that is visually fresh, beautiful, and unique to you.   On the rare occasion it is mutually decided between the client and myself that the blank canvas of a studio is needed, I do have a list of few fabulous studio options that can be hired out for a couple of hours or a full day.

Can you arrange hair & makeup artists, personal stylists, florists, or interiors stylists for my shoot?

I’ve been so lucky to hve worked with some amazing professionals in each of these fields over my years as a photographer, and will happily to shoot you through contact details for the ones I know you’ll love.

How many images can I expect to recieve?

This is so dependant on many factors – but generally speaking I don’t restrict the number of images delivered. If anything I do tend to overshoot, so as I edit I get rid of duplicates or any that aren’t ‘usable’, and you get the rest!  Ultimately you’ll receive a library of beautiful shots that work for your needs across all your marketing platforms.

Who owns copyright of the images?

As per standard industry practice and Australian copyright law, final copyright is retained by the photographer, unless otherwise agreed. I do give you full usage rights to display the images across your web, social media, and print marketing, as well as any third-party supplier’s social media usage (with photographer credit). Extended usage (such as extended usage by a third party, in books or other publications (online or in print), or any other commercial or licencing deals) may require separate permission and licensing fees – please contact me if you are unsure.
