Long before I did my first professional photoshoot in 1998, I had discovered my creative passion for photography while on a year-long high school exchange program in the USA. In a random subject selection to complete my school timetable, I chose the intriguingly named Industrial Arts class, which just ended up being a fancy name for Photography. It covered the basics of manually using an SLR camera, processing my own B&W film, creating proof sheets and spending long hours printing in the darkroom, dodging, burning and inhaling strange chemicals!

It was a magical learning time, and I was obsessed.

 IThe following years were spent travelling, taking lots of photos, and getting qualified as an interior designer – I had always been into design, and for some reason it just didn’t feel that the time was right for me to turn my passion for photography into a career.

My first official photography gig was photographing a friend’s wedding. I was reluctant and nervous (AND it was still film-based so no guarantee of results until those rolls came back from the lab several days later!), but soon found that with my relaxed approach and unposed style I was tapping into a niche that at that point (the 90s!) was largely neglected, and as a result spent the next 15 years photographing hundreds of lovely couples tying the knot.

After getting married and starting a family myself, I longed to get my weekends back, and well before ‘pivoting’ became a necessary “thing”, in 2013 I pivoted my business to go back to the things that I always interested in and loved photographing – interiors, fashion, travel and lifestyle, and I have never looked back.

I’ve also thrown in some personal projects along the way, such as the COVID lockdown “All Dressed Up, Nowhere To Go” project, photographing (mainly) women glammed up to the nines in their driveways and front yards, which then became a self-published book and an exhibition at the Frankston Arts Centre. I have also created a range of fine art photographic prints which I sell through this website, and produced a licenced range of images for print-on-demand posters through Officeworks stores nationally.

I am always looking to collaborate with new and lovely like-minded clients, and I’m also so excited that 2023 will be the year I put these 25 years of knowledge and industry experience to use by creating an online learning academy aimed at eductating the next generation of upcoming commercial lifestyle photographers (and of course keen amateurs who just really love photography and would love to build on their skills).

This story is far from over!
